I have been using my spare time by quilting. I think I finish one quilt per week. I love sewing and seeing the finish project. I am going to have a contest on FB and the winner will receive one of my quilts. If you are my friend on FB, look for the Event I will be creating. I still haven't decided on the rules, the acutal contest and how to pick a winner. I just know the prize!!
It's March 14th. One Day after my birthday!
Yesterday was my birthday. March 13th. I love that date. It makes me so happy. I especially love March 13 when it falls on a Friday. This year my birthday was on a Sunday. Kinda bummed but it was okay. Today, the 14th, my coworkers and friends are treating me to lunch at a mexican place called MEXICO. Mexico has pretty good food. The best part of the lunch is that I will be with my friends.

Yesterday was a lazy day. I went to Church and then came home and did nothing. Well, not nothing. I ate lunch and watched TV, did some cross-stitching and sat by my sister, Robin, and laughed and talked all day. For dinner we ate Salmon and had relvet cake for desert. I've been on a diet since January 15th so this cake, along with the vanilla ice cream, tasted SO GOOD! I know you can imagine how delicious it was. I wasn't going to have cake and ice cream for my birthday, but Robin said it was Good Luck to eat cake on your birthday. So I ate cake and loved every minute of it.

During the day we watched an ESPN movie called the FAB 5. At first I didn't want to watch it but we did anyway since there wasn't anything else on. The film was about 5 freshman who joined the Michigan Wolverine basketball squad back in 1991. It chronicles their 2 years while at Michigan and all the events and happenings during that time. Both Robin and I really enjoyed watching this movie. I recommend this movie if you happen to see it advertised on ESPN.

That's about all for now. I'll promise to write and update my blog more often!!

Aloha,
This morning Joe and I woke up and put away from "things" from around the house, and then put up the tree and other decorations.

We used a table cloth for the tree skirt. It looks really cute. The tree is artificial, but I don't mind. Our place is small so the tree fits its surroundings. I like to look at the decorations that I have purchased throughout my lifetime. Some are hand me downs from my mom. I guess I like the colors of green, red and white.

Cherie will be home is about 3 weeks. I can't wait for her humor, personality and sweet spirit!! I'll bet you she can't wait to come home to blue skies and sunshine. Oh, and the beach!! The weather has been beautiful and the beach is calling out to Cherie. Cherie and the beach make a beautiful relationship!!

Here's wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
It's my first real Monday home from vacation with the entire week ahead of me. I do have a meeting tomorrow at 1:00 pm for my doTERRA CPTG essential oil business. Other than that, I have NO PLANS.

If I want my doTERRA oil business to be successful, I must have a plan. I need to listen to or read my educational and motivational books and tapes. This will give me insight and knowledge on what to do.

So I will start there. Sounds good to me. Oh, and eat my breakfast, feed the cat and take a walk later on in the day. I love it!!Stephanie Yamashitahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16764768254007181892noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8618339679247297319.post-39369461015498004812010-09-17T13:58:00.001-10:002010-09-19T20:06:24.000-10:00Back HomeOn Monday, September 13, I ended my two month vacation to Utah. Now I'm back in Hawaii and I am having mixed emotions about being home. Here they are:

1. It's hot and humid and I don't like that
2. I love my own bed
3. I'm missing the kids and grand kids
4. I can now collect unemployment
5. But I have to apply for 3 jobs a week
6. I have my own car to use
7. I could always use Nikki's car
8. I miss going to eat with my siblings
9. Now I can go out with my DH friends, Prudential friends and church friends

I could go on and on but why bother. I live in a mixed-up world where I want to be two places at the same time. I better get busy with my doTERRA business and make enough money to have a home in both Hawaii and Utah.

Oh, one more thing.....I miss Cafe Rio!!!!

Aloha,
This makes me sick to think I have to "fit" into something glamorous. Oh well, Spanx, here we come! I'll let you know how it turns out!

Thankfully my sister, Shelley, will be there with me to pick out clothes and make comments so I don't
end up embarrassing myself. This summer is going by way too fast. I am in Utah, visiting my 4 daughters, 3 sons-in-law, and 6 grand kids. I will post some pictures soon. I love Utah in the summer. The heat doesn't bother me and I love the clouds, the evening sky and the fun things to do. In a week my friend and I will be taking a road trip to Arizona to give do TERRA CPTG Essential Oil Classes. (CPTG = Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade)

I have been down to Cedar City, Utah to stay with Daughter #2. We saw a movie and two plays at the Utah Shakespearean Festival. The first play was "Pride and Prejudice" and the 2nd was "Macbeth." They were both superior productions in every way. We also saw the Green Show twice. In two weeks Joe will visit Utah and we have tickets to go and see "The 39 Steps." I heard it was hilarious. We have front row seats!

This week will be full of classes for do TERRA and hanging with the girls. My stay in Utah will end on September 7th. Then I will be back in Hawaii and looking for a job. I don't know what I plan to do or what kind of job I want to look for, but I will look. I haven't received any unemployment benefits yet so that will be nice to file again and start receiving my checks. Then I can pay back my bank cards!

Will keep an updated post on all the happenings this summer.

Why am I up writing so late? Because I can't sleep. I checked out all the kids' blogs and started going from Blog to Blog. And I got Blog -sick. Which means that I got sick of looking at other blogs. I got stuck in a rut of just knitting or quilting blogs. Usually I would love to look at the Quilting blogs, but not today. Then I got stuck with a bunch of scrap booking blogs. Ok all you ladies who scrap-book - do you think your kids will really care about all that fru-fru stuff in 30 years? Ah, No. All they will care about is the pictures. So, really, I think you are just wasting your time!

Let's see if anyone posts a "hate" comment because I said it like it is. Why don't you turn your time into something useful for society? Oh, there I go again. Saying something mean. Sorry, it's just that I really didn't want or care to see all the scrap book stuff since that's not my thing! And really, I don't have any room to talk since I've decided not to do anything at all but watch trash TV. Yup, I have lots of fabric and I could be sewing cute and wonderful things but I choose to sit in front of the TV and veg. Maybe it has to do with my job? Excuses, excuses.

On a happier and not so mean note, someone in my neighborhood decides to BBQ at 10:00 PM!! All I could smell was the stinky lighter fluid. I got up about 11:00 to get some watermelon and all I could smell was the odor of cooked beef. Don't these people know that eating protein late at night isn't good for them? Or for me, for that matter. And I didn't eat the stuff, just had to smell it!! YUCK~~

Now you girls who will really read this, and I know it's just the two of you, I'm just in a silly mood! It's okay to scrap book....but the 2nd thing is true and the smell really got to me. Oh, and the watermelon was good!

We saw Iron Man 2 today. Now if you haven't seen the movie, may I please suggest that you wait until the end of the credits before you leave. You'll be glad you did. If you already saw this movie and left, ah, too bad!! Shoulda waited!!

Ok peeps, it's time to say good night and try to sleep. 7:00 am comes around pretty darn fast!!

Bye......SYStephanie Yamashitahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16764768254007181892noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8618339679247297319.post-26848403722847343082010-05-17T13:14:00.000-10:002010-05-17T13:14:08.179-10:00April 23, 2010Congratulations to Breana, who graduated from BYU in Psychology. It signals the start of Spring and the renewal of the earth, and all living things. It also reminds me that there is live after death, and that some day will be resurrected. Once we are resurrected, we don't have to worry about death, pain, suffering or just plain old misery! Yes, Easter is a wonderful time of year to think about our Savior, Jesus Christ and His Infinite Atonement!

Thank you, Jesus Christ, for suffering for my sins and giving up your life for me on the cross. Thank you for the blessing of resurrection to Eternal Life. Thank you for your life and teachings. Thank you for your example of obedience to God, The Eternal Father and doing His will. Thank you for completing your earthly mission.

Easter is also a time for my children and I to reflect on the passing of my husband and their Dad. He died on April 2 2000. It was General Conference weekend. My girlfriend called me and talked to me about one of the talks at General Conference. The talk was on Widows and Orphans. I have read and reread that talk many times and feel eternally grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This Easter all the children and grandchildren are in Utah. It could seem really lonely except General Conference was on TV and I got to watch it. It made me realize that I am a member of a large, family oriented church and that Jesus loves me. I don't feel lonely because I have brothers and sisters all over the world. Plus, I am but a phone call away from the girls. I will be seeing everyone in just 2 short weeks.

Oh the places we'll go and the activities we'll have~!

Happy Easter and Aloha,
I think I had my fill for today!!

I wanted to post something I just found on another blog. The blog is called, "Grandma Linda's House." At the end of her blog she had the following saying:

everything will be okay in the end.

if it's not okay,

it's not the end.

This was exactly what I needed to read after this week of hearing we were probably going to be laid off at the end of June, to the end of the week where there might be money to keep our program going. What a roller coaster ride that I'm sick of riding on.

Last year at this same time, half of my co workers were notified that there were going to be laid off at the end of March. Then there was another lay off. Total of 4 lay offs, 44 people gone, 23 positions eliminated, positions and people moved around to different positions without be asked first which left 13 of us . It was stress to the max, and something I never wanted to go through again. Well, never say never because here we go again!!

But at least I have Plan B. Plan B is working on my business of Essential Oils. doTerra Essential Oils to be exact. I love them! They are so wonderful and I can't wait to share them with my friends, family and strangers alike!!

If, by chance, my program finds money and I'm not laid off, then I will be glad to stay and work as long as I can. But I'm still going to be educating as many people as I can about the health benefits of doTerra Oils.

So, remember, if it's not okay, then it's not the end. Just the end of this post.!!

Aloha,

The time has come to say goodbye to my job. We got news today that the TANF funds are being cut and so are we.

What to do, what to do???

We have until June 30th.

So I have to come up with Plan B.

I don't even have a Plan A.

Can I make it on doTerra Essential Oils? http://www.doterra.com/ or www.mydoterra.com/stephanieyamashita

At my age starting over really sucks. I don't have clothes for an office job. I don't have the college education to make a decent living. Oh, Woe is Me!~ ~ ~

BUT I AM HAPPY!!

Aloha,
Today is my birthday. Or I should say, today was my birthday. It is 9:23 pm so the day is almost over.

I had a great day with the hubby. But now I know I'm getting old. Why do I know that? Because I bought a MoTab CD. YUP. sure did. MoTab. Can't wait to hear it. And I bought my own copy of "Jesus the Christ." So it's time to start reading all 792 pages. I've done it before and I cad no it again!!

Now we are watching an old EMMA with a very young Kate Winslet. 10 years ago next month, Breana and Cherie got a picture with Gwyneth Paltrow, a more modern Emma. I sure loved Mr. Knightly in that movie!

So, goodnight everyone. 365 more days until my next birthday. *sigh*

Love and Aloha,

I turn 29 again tomorrow! Horray for March 13th!! My friends at work surprised me with flowers, balloons, cake and punch!! We also had a Health and Wellness Fair for work and I got a 10 minute massage. Can't wait until tomorrow to go holoholo with the hubby and spend the entire day doing what I WANT!

I only wish the years weren't going by so fast. Slow down...take a break...I need to catch my breath!! There are still so many things to do, projects to finish, places to visit and people to meet and greet. The problem right now? WORK!! It gets in the way of having a truly fun and fulfilling life. Ah....but I must work. So I have to plan every vacation hour to its fullest.

My next vacation is in April when daugther #3 graduates from Brigham Young University. Wow...where has the time gone? One week to play and party and participate in graduation for her! A little early to congratulate her. Time is flying by and soon I will be there with bells on my toes and a smile on my face. Oh, and a couple of tears, too!!

So, everyone, raise your glasses and toast to birthdays, vacations, graduations, kids and grandkids! I couldn't have done it without you!

Aloha,
That's nicer than saying, "Things I Hate." But really, pet peeve or something I hate, they all really bug me! Here are a couple that I can think of right now:

1. Son-in-Laws....Now, it is supposed to be SONS-in-laws. If you have more than one son-in-law, you would say sons-in-law. NOT sons-in-lawS. This really bugs me. Do you have more than one son? Or more than one law? Get it????

2. I seen this. Probably only in Hawaii to people use this phrase. People - it's I've seen this or I have seen this. Get with the program!

Okay, this are the only two I can think of right now. There will be more, later.

Aloha,
Runny nose and watery eyes. Chills, then hot. Arms ache. And no sick leave at work. I must have the least amount of sick leave accumulated! As of today, I have 1.5 hours and I have to take that in April. So why am I always sick? I attribute it to my job. I work with kids ages 0-3. I seems like every home I go into, all the babies have runny, snotty, gubbery noses. Yes and sometimes the color of this snotty stuff is GREEN!! YUCK....what more can I say? YUCK, YUCK, and More YUCK!~ The peeps are supposed to call us and cancel if they or their kids are sick. Most of the time, they don't call. Lucky me, I catch everything.

For my next quiz, I was going to list all the "stuff" we deal with at work and let you, the reader, pick which one we hate the most. But the funny thing is, we hate all the STUFF~ Let me list them:
1. Head lice or Ukus
2. Bed Bugs
3. Cockroaches - B52's
4. rats and mice
5. ringworm
6. green snot
7. excrement (if I didn't spell this correctly, it's really poop)
8. men who wear nothing but a towel
9. urine
10. foul language, from both kids and parents
11. STINKY, POOPY diapers
12. sticky floors
13. open sores
14. vomit
15. being locked in
16. climbing through windows
17. KPT - nuff said

Well I could go on and on, but no one would believe the rest of the story!! Nevertheless, I love my job. Some of the perks aren't what they are cracked up to be, especially when it results in a head cold. Now I have to think of a new quiz. I gotta wait till the head clears. Please be patient. It may take awhile.

Sniff, sniff....stephanie
Bummers. I had a great day planned but had to cancel everything because of a potential tsunami. I understand that caution and being prepared is the smartest thing to do. But I can still be sad, right?

What was my big day going to look like? Here are the highlights:
1. Get up early, go to the store to buy food to make sandwiches.
2. Get my hair cut and colored - (an appointment made 5 weeks ago and is really, really needed)
3. Meet my friends Chris and Emilei and go to Allison's house to give a class on doTerra Essential Oils
4. Have lunch with co workers from PACT & have a class on the oils
5. Laugh and laugh and laugh with all my friends.....oh and enjoy the view from Allison's house
6. Joe was going to take my car for a safety check and oil change
7. Relax and enjoy Saturday night with Joe

It might not sound like much but just being with my girl friends is always a fun experience waiting to happen. My friend Chris leaves Tuesday night to fly back to Utah. I can reschedule the essential oils class. But I will never know the fun I missed out on with PACT friends. **sigh***

So now I am writing this post and looking forward to seeing the 2nd to last night of the Olympics.

If you are reading this and can understand, then drop me a note.

If you want to host a class on doTerra Essential Oils, let me know and I'm there. I will have another post soon on my road trip to these oils!! It's been fast and furious and I don't want to get off this roller coaster ride!!

See you soon,
She bakes wonderful bread, and for those of you who are LDS, she makes the Sacrament bread for Kailua 1st Ward. Click on Island Life at the top of the page, when you get to the Honolulu Advertiser. Scroll down and to your left, is a picture of bread. Read and enjoy!

I really don't like twangy guitar music

If either Cobbie Caillat or Taylor Swift tried out for American Idol, they wouldn't make the top 24

Even after 50 + years, I wish I had straight hair...and blonde!

If I had to live on one type of food for the rest of my life, it would be Mexican food

I like eating out

Forget kids, just bring on the grandkids

I like the music from the 80s...

If sleeping were an Olympic sport, I would have several gold medals in my collection

When I have stamps, scotch tape and a pair of scissors in my purse, I feel empowered

Ok...that's all for now. I'm certain I will have more observations at a later date. Come by and check it out!

Aloha,

Stephanie

I took this picture while in the car wash. I saw my camera on the seat next to me, and just had to take a picture to see what it would look like. Thanks for taking my Quiz and a new one will be posted shortly. I just have to think of one...:(:(

I love the downhill skiing and of course, the figure skating. But there is so much more to the Olympics than these two sports. I love the scenery of the host city. I love to hear stories of underdogs who make it to the games, even though they probably won't win a medal. I love the medal ceremonies. Oh heck, I love it all.

The first Olympics I remember watching was the Summer Games in Mexico City. The year, 1968. There was a lot
of controversy but as a naive young girl, it didn't phase me. What I do remember vividly, was the closing ceremonies. I just Googled the Mexico Olympics and when scrolling down on the bulleted highlights, this is what I found:

It was the first games where the closing ceremony was transmitted in color to all the world.

No wonder I liked it!! It was in color. My memory doesn't serve me well here. I don't think I watched it on a color TV, but I don't remember. That was many, many, and ok, still, many years ago. But watching the Olympics back in 1968 solidified my love for the games that will last as long as my life.

So, enjoy watching the Olympics while it's on. All of us have color TV, and some even have HD. I don't know if the broadcast is in HD, but it doesn't matter. Color rocks!! hahaha...I'm laughing at myself!!
Stephanie Yamashitahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16764768254007181892noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8618339679247297319.post-76064874971182319182010-02-14T11:50:00.001-10:002010-02-14T11:50:47.825-10:00Another hint!* * * I was in my car when I took this picture. * * *Stephanie Yamashitahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16764768254007181892noreply@blogger.com4
